Plan Benefits
Legal Consulting, Compliance, and Crisis Management Benefit
This benefit provides your organization with up to $5,000.00 for legal services and media relations. When your organization is in need of legal advice regarding your organization’s compliance with relevant applicable local, state, and federal laws and your college’s code of conduct concerning the Organization’s on and off campus activities, Scholar Protect will, with the input of your organization, identify, vet and retain an experienced attorney to advise your organization. In the event of a crisis or emergency, such as a severe injury or media relations issue, Scholar Protect will identify, vet and retain legal services and media relations assistance to help triage and manage the situation, with the goal of minimizing potential legal risks and reputational harm.
Administrative Action Benefit
In the event your organization faces an administrative action or investigation by your college or university, your organization receives up to a $25,000.00 benefit for attorney's fees, investigative fees, and expert consultation/witness services. With your organization’s input, Scholar Protect identifies, vets, and retains an experienced attorney in your organization’s area to represent your organization, and provides litigation support to that attorney. If at the end of the administrative action, an appeal is warranted, Scholar Protect will continue to pay attorney's fees and appellate expenses, up to this maximum allowed benefit.
24-hour Attorney Access Hotline
The Organization Protect Plan includes access to our attorneys 24 hours a day via the attorney access hotline. Hotline calls are answered by a live agent 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. Callers are immediately connected to a Scholar Protect founding attorney which ensures our Organizational members have access to spontaneous and immediate legal support.
Educational Resources
Organization Protect Members receive access to live (in some locations) and online educational resources designed to educate your organization on the college’s code of conduct, which often contain specific provisions which apply to your organizational entity. These resources will include information about the ever-evolving applicable federal law including Title IX, as well as outlining expectations, standards, and guidelines for the college organization’s campus activities. The content is designed to assist organizations in maintaining compliance and good standing on campus by avoiding violations of the codes of conduct and resulting adverse administrative disciplinary action.
Attorney Vetting and Referral Services
For legal service needs outside an administrative action, Organization Protect members receive unlimited attorney vetting and referral services.
Subscription Details and Cancellation
Organization Protect is an annual membership and is a recurring subscription membership which automatically renews. Members may cancel their membership anytime without penalty.
Limitations
To receive benefits under the Organization Protect plan, the organization must have been enrolled in the Organization Protect Plan at the time of the alleged violation, which is the subject of the administrative action and remain enrolled until the administrative action is complete.
Scholar Protect Plans are not transferable. Scholar Protect Plans do not provide benefits for administrative actions related to political protests.
